Social media strategy & accessible redesign for BFS e.V.

Bund zur Förderung Sehbehinderter e.V. (BFS)

Strategy. Consulting. Seminars. Social Media Branding. Canva Templates.

Der Bund zur Förderung Sehbehinderter e.V. (BFS) is a nationwide self-help organization that advocates for the interests of visually impaired people. To strengthen the BFS's digital communication, we developed a comprehensive social media strategy and fundamentally revised the existing social media design. Barrier-free branding included!

From inventory to branding strategy

We began by conducting a detailed analysis of the existing channels and developed clear objectives with the BFS team: greater visibility and reach on platforms such as Instagram and Facebook, attracting new supporters, especially younger target groups, and strengthening the community through relevant, realistic content.
Based on this, we developed a content strategy that reflects both the emotional needs of the target groups and the technical expertise of the BFS. The result is a balanced social media strategy that delivers real added value and support.
It quickly became clear that in order to reflect and achieve this, the visual strategy also needed to be expanded – including the colour palette, colour gradients and typographical adjustments. Accordingly, we looked for contrasting secondary colours that ideally complemented the existing red, white and black.

Practical training & argumentation aids

To ensure that the strategy could take effect immediately, we trained the team in regular short workshops. The topics ranged from content production and reel storytelling to paid media and social media event marketing. In addition, employees were given presentation and argumentation aids to communicate the BFS messages confidently and effectively – and to strategically anchor the entire project internally.

New social media design – harmonious & inclusive

The visual redesign was a central component of our collaboration.

Expanded colour palette

Going beyond the previous colours of black, white and red, we developed accessible secondary colours that make the design more harmonious and friendly and draw greater attention to the content.

Geometric design language

We derived a box-shaped, clear design logic from the elements of the logo – complemented by targeted slants as visual eye-catchers.

Typography & hierarchy

We optimised readability and structure to make messages quickly comprehensible.

As a self-help organisation, accessibility is not just a requirement for the BFS, but also a daily practice. That is why we expanded our design work to include accessible colour and typography design, practical exercises for inclusive and simple language. This also includes the use of assistance systems and AI in digital communication.
Finally, we created customised Canva templates so that the team can implement the new design language independently and consistently – from current news to campaign content.

The result

With this combination of strategy, design relaunch, focus on accessibility and practical empowerment, the social media strategy of BFS e.V. is now optimally positioned to disseminate messages digitally in a visible, inclusive and effective manner.
